Domaine Wilfried

- Rasteau & Cairanne -

Wilfried's estate has a long family history dating back to the 18th century. After the First World War, the family farm concentrated on viticulture and wine making and built one of the first winery in Rasteau. Since then, each generation has brought its own personal vision of the winegrowing profession.

Réjane and Wilfried Pouzoulas (brother and sister )took over the estate at the end of the 90's. "As conscientious winemakers of the climatic issues, our intention is simply to create a favorable environment from which the vine can grow naturally and give us the best of its fruits".this deep commitment to nature led us, at the end of the 20th century, to practice a peasant agriculture without weedkillers or insecticides, concretized by an organic certification in 2009.

The vineyard, swept by the Mistral wind and bathed in Mediterranean sunshine, is made up of Grenache Noir, Syrah, Mourvedre, Carignan and Cinscault, and is rooted in a soil of blue and yellow marl with a sandy tendency.

After a manual harvest and a rigorous sorting, the grapes are put in vats to ferment with their own yeasts. Wing to the bottling. We practice natural vinification without any eonological input and the maturation is mainly done in concrete tanks in order to preserve the purity and the finesse of our grapes.  According to the profile of the vintage a light sulfiting can be done after the malolactic fermentation or just before the bottling, no other input is used from the vatting to the bottling.
